Last night I was lucky enough to be able to attend another hour long live concert by Skye Galaxy, an impromptu performance at his new land in SL. I took some pictures including this one in my post. He sang so many great songs again, (Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ was epic!) and even though it was a last minute thing there were around 60 plus people there.
I was kind of torn which song to share in my blog but in the end I had to pick ‘Mad World’, because of my love for the Donnie Darko film and soundtrack. I love the Gary Jules version of course, he really took the Tears for Fears original to a different level. And then along comes Skye Galaxy and weaves new layers of emotion and beauty into an already hugely meaningful song for me. Yes it’s a sad song, because the world is often a hard and lonely place. But sometimes it’s mad in crazy wonderful ways too, and those are the moments I stay breathing for. Music is a huge part of my life and I have often said that I don’t keep photographs, I keep songs. Joni Mitchell sang that ‘Songs are like tattoos’, and my heart is a big mess of ink, messy and sad but mostly overwhelmingly grateful for my human experience and the beautiful moments that keep me smiling.
